Re:Populate, 5x5 Indy, Indianapolis, Indy Redefined
Well, it’s safe to say we’re glad that a panel of judges had to pick a final five for us because there’s no way we ever would’ve been able to decide. Seriously.

That said, the five presenters for Re:Populate, 2014’s final 5×5 are: Exploration IndyImproving the Music Council, Indy Redbud ProjectPatterns in Repopulations, and Signs of Life.

The event will take place on October 30 at Dallara IndyCar Factory immediately following the Indy Redefined conference. There will be a Sun King happy hour starting at 5 p.m. with food trucks and presentations will begin at 6 p.m. RSVP for free to let us know you’re coming, and we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop with special details and such.

Exploration Indy | Kevin Grazioli
More than 2 million people live in Indy’s regional area, yet only slightly more then 800,000 live within the city. Exploration Indy (working title) will be a half-hour television show about Indianapolis’ neighborhoods to explore, develop, and enhance a movement back to the core city roots of the region.

Improving the Music Council | John Beeler
The Music Council, represented by John Beeler, seeks elevate Indy’s position among cities competing for talent, and right now limited funds means limited offerings. They’ll host regular Green Room events for local musicians and music fans to engage directly, provide promotion opportunities for touring artists and add website improvements to provide booking and touring information, performance announcements, musician-written blog content and and an archive of Green Room events.

Indy Redbud Project | John Moore (Official Re:Populate winner)
Once thriving communities across the city are now burdened with vacant lots, a degraded environment, and limited positive community interactions. Represented by John Moore, Urban Patch’s Indy Redbud Project will make Indy’s urban heart beautiful with the pinks and magentas of native Redbud trees populating streets, yards and vacant lots. The trees are versatile, easy to propagate and can spur a new seasonal annual event to help bring people to love our urban neighborhoods.

Patterns in Repopulations | Angela Joseph
Patterns in Repopulation by Cultural Cannibals, represented by Angela Joseph, will create three murals, in three neighborhoods, with participation from the top three groups repopulating Marion County: African-Americans, Latinos, and Asians. They will travel to neighborhood centers and inviting the community to bring their traditional textiles to be photographed, then return to paint murals based upon each neighborhood’s textile contributions.

Signs of Life | Jamie Pawlus
Signs of Life will be works of art integrated into neighborhoods but disguised as typical urban environment signs. They will be inspired by personal stories, tales and insights, placed to capture the attention of passersby, and offer a whimsical yet thoughtful approach for people to see their surroundings in a new way, or for the very first time.
