Individuals of all ages are invited to a presentation by S. Chandler Lighty, Director of the Indiana Historical Bureau, who will speak about the life of George Washington Julian, who was born on May 5, 1817. Julian was a prominent Hoosier politician, lawyer and writer known as a leading abolitionist and early supporter of women’s suffrage. Julian’s Italianate home on S. Audubon still stands and nearby IPS School 57 is named in his honor. The presentation will be followed by refreshments and a display from the Bureau’s collection.
