Were you a Boy Scout and participated in a Pinewood Derby?
Are you a mom or dad who has watched their son build a Pinewood Derby car and wished you could make one yourself?
Do you just like to build things and compete?
If you have ever wanted to participate in a Pinewood Derby event again or even for the first time, this event is for you!
This event is a lot like a traditional pinewood derby. But instead of boys creating the cars, adults will be creating the cars. Instead of a school or church gymnasium hosting the derby, ours will be hosted at Metazoa Brewing! The cars will be built by local artists, engineers, dads and moms of boy scouts, friends of Partners In Housing, etc. Each car will compete in a traditional derby race on a traditional pinewood derby track. There will be winners for the fastest car and the most creative car built! Racing is in our blood as Hoosiers and what a great way to kick-off the racing season than with an adults-only derby race!
Derby Racer Tickets include:
Maplewood Derby required car kit and entry into the race (pick up car kit from Partners In Housing)
One drink ticket
Spectator Tickets include:
Admission into the event as a spectator
One drink ticket
Rules and Regulations for car designs.
Maplewood Derby is a fundraiser to benefit Partners In Housing’s mission. Maplewood Derby was first created and invented by Christopher Maples. Chris was Partners In Housing’s Director of Advancement from 2011-2014. In 2014, Chris became ill and was diagnosed with cancer. Sadly, after 5 long months of chemotherapy, Chris passed away. While Chris is no longer with us, his legacy and his love for Partners is still felt every day in the office and with the residents. This event was his idea and ours to make happen. We are proud to name this event after Chris; the Maplewood Derby.
