Hey – got a second?

Okay, maybe a little more than a second. We need a little bit of your headspace.

Today, our Indy Voices survey launches. This biennial survey, now in its third season, has been developed to help us understand what your priorities are as twenty and thirty somethings, living, working and thriving in Indy.

What do we do with these responses? A lot. Here’s a few examples:

You told us in 2013 and again in 2015 that increased and more efficient public transportation options topped your priorities for Indy – especially when you considered what other cities you love to visit have. We used that knowledge to launch The Dinner Series in 2016. In partnership with IndyGo, together we learned more, and were able to inform our friends and coworkers about the Marion County Transit Plan. Remember the 2016 election – yes, that one – when we celebrated the 62% approval of the plan by Marion County voters?

You helped make that happen in a big way.

Your voices have been heard loud and clear when it comes to what matters inside the workplace, too. In 2013, those of you looking to leave your current job told us it wasn’t lack of pay and benefits, but rather professional development opportunities. Since then, we’ve worked with countless local employers – big and small – to help them shape their employees civic participation plans.

We’re over here advocating for all of us.

One more example – the importance of our city’s neighborhoods has come out in a big way. This directly contributed to the evolution of both IndyHub’s Hello Neighbor! Series and No Mean City, a collaborative effort that exists to share the stories of Indy and encourage residents (both current and prospective) to discover their perfect part of the city. Indy is bold, progressive and dynamic and that is the message that we need to share with the world.

By investing a bit of your time, you help us share the priorities of our generation with our current politicians, city builders and investors. And they are taking note. Our greatest responsibility is understanding how we view our city, how we can impact our city and how we can invest in our city.

Because together, we make this city great.

Be sure to share it with your friends! We will be collecting responses until July 24.
