This past weekend our dear friend, colleague, problem-solver, conspirer-in-arms and Indy cheerleader passed.

Denver Hutt was so much to so many people. She pushed us to be better. She encouraged us to grow and try new things. Often, she reminded us, “if not now, when?

Despite battling a severe form of ovarian cancer for the last three years, as well as all of the side effects and symptoms, she continued to make stuff happen. BIG, IMPORTANT STUFF. She and her friends worked on a summer bucket list. She loved her friends and partner in crime – Tom Hanley – very big.  She got a dog named Moose, and a new job – at MIBOR. Most of all, she continued to encourage, educate, empower and inspire the hell out of all of us.

IndyHub had the great pleasure of meeting Denver sometime in 2010 when she began attending Happy Hours. She then coordinated and hosted several of those events as a volunteer, and she worked on our staff for a spell, too, in early 2012, prior to taking the reins of the newly opened Speak Easy. Denver was a member of IndyHub’s 1828 Project, Class Two.

Denver touched many of us. And without doubt her work in, and love for, the city of Indianapolis will be felt for years to come. But we also know that she would not want us to be sad, but rather get out there and do something great. Big important stuff – like love hard and push the limits. For Indy. For ourselves. For each other. For #TeamDenver.

Denver, thank you for loving this place with your whole self.
