Brent_Lyle_HeadshotStaying at home to watch other people have a ball at some amazing party on TV is the NYE of our past. This year, let’s pop our own bubbly, set resolutions we’ll ‘keep,’ and smooch a few strangers at midnight this December 31st, in good company.

With that in mind, I’ve rounded up a few Indy celebrations for the discerning partygoer from fireworks and an IndyCar drop on Georgia Street, to balloons and face-painting for the kiddos, to music from around the world, there’s lots of options to get excited about.

Here’s to a new kind of step-outside-of-the-box 2016, folks.
Cheers.

The party: The Circle City NYE Celebration for the Circle City by Downtown Indy
What’s happening: Giant block party. Live music acts are going to entertain thousands of partiers on Georgia Street complete with full bars and food trucks. Oh, and forget that boring old ball drop; this is racing country! We drop IndyCars at midnight here!

The party: ‘Indy’s most diverse NYE’ by Old Soul Entertainment & Cultural Cannibals
What’s happening: Two parties at once. One floor gets you DJs spinning Hip-Hop & R&B, and you’ll find Reggae, Afrobeat, and Brazilian on the other. Let’s not forget the champagne toast at midnight.

The party: Family Year’s Eve by the Indiana State Museum
What’s happening: Family-friendly is the key here. Bring the kids down for stilt-walkers, face-painting, clowns, and music. Special treat: they get their own baloon drop at 8pm!

The party: NYE Latin Dance Party by The Jazz Kitchen
What’s happening: Some like it hot. The salsa. Dancing, that is. (The food here is wonderful, too!) Jazz, salsa, merengue, bachata, you might find exactly what moves you tonight, just before the complimentary champagne toast at midnight.

The party: A NYE ‘Bye-Week’ for Sports Fans by Circle City Athletics
What’s happening: Unlimited drinks and a variety of sights and sounds to keep you occupied. DJs, food buffet, Henna artists, oxygen bar, photo booth, magician, blackjack… Yes, there’s a lot.

The party: Indy’s only rooftop NYE by Ciroc & Regions Tower
What’s happening: Undoubtedly the highest party of the night. Lights, cameras, and lots of action with 4 DJs, live music, premium open bar all night, appetizers, and the customary champagne toast at the stroke of midnight.

The party: A Masquerade Ball for the fancy crowd by Union Station
What’s happening: Union Station is transformed into 3 clubs for the night. Pick what suits your fancy: cover tunes, country, or top hits served by the DJ. A grown-up balloon drop at midnight with plenty of party favors to go around.

Take your pick! But :gasp:! None of these suit you? Here are a few more options to have a look at. Find something, get into it, and post all about it on social media to make your friends wish they had gone with you.

Tweet me or hit me on Facebook and let me know what you picked!
