Thousands of spectators gather in Downtown Indianapolis at Monument Circle to see the most spectacular holiday display illuminate. And you can help make it happen.
Volunteer for Downtown Indy, Inc.’s Circle of Lights® presented by IBEW #481 the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 24, 2017.
Available volunteer positions include: “Ask Me” Volunteer (4 positions available)
Volunteers work in pairs and roam throughout the crowds to answer questions from guests. Guests are equipped with a diagram, stay inside the bike rack, give directions and make themselves available as roaming information booths. The shift begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.
Quadrant Captain (4 positions)
Volunteers are stationed at one of four quadrants/entry points on Monument Circle and tasked with overseeing crowds. Volunteers will be responsible for maintaining communication between event staff and security to appropriately handle crowd control. The shift begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.
Santa’s Runway Volunteer (18 positions available)
Volunteers are responsible for monitoring Santa’s Runway from the stage to the top of the Monument steps. This path is where Santa, the Mayor, and the Coloring Contest winner will access the pathway to the flip the light switch. The shift begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.
Headquarter Greeter Volunteer (2 positions available)
Volunteers are stationed inside and outside the main doors of the Circle of Lights headquarters and act as captains for the Entertainment Path Volunteers as well as greeters for special guests and VIPs. Volunteers are expected to have a pleasant demeanor, give directions, answer questions and only allow credentialed people into the office. The shift begins at 4 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.
Carson’s Selfies with Santa Volunteers (4 positions available)
Volunteers will be responsible for taking photos of attendees with Santa. The shift begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.
