The 1828 Project’s one of our signature programs at IndyHub, and each year it’s full of incredible leaders between the ages of 18 and 28. Lourenzo’s part of 1828’s Class II. We sent him some questions. He responded. We totally think you should meet him, so keep reading.

IndyHub: How would you describe 1828 to a stranger?Lorenzo_blog

Lourenzo: 1828 is a gathering of like minded individuals who are in the process of establishing themselves within Indianapolis. Or in other words: 1828 is a group of people who are interested in getting shit done within the city of Indianapolis and 1828 serves as a connector for these individuals.

How many years have you lived in Indy? What are some of your favorite Indy spots?

I’ve lived in Indy since 1996 after my family moved to Indianapolis from Liberia. Other than living in Muncie for school for 6 years, Indianapolis has been my home. Current favorite spots in the city vary from Shoefly, Pure, Bluebeard, Tomlinson Taproom, Black Acre and Jockamo’s.

What have you been up to since 1828?

Since 1828 I’ve completed my first Master’s degree from Ball State and currently working on my second. Began some planning work with the city and continuing to find my niche within the Indianapolis ares and trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.

What organizations are you most excited about in Indy?

As always I’m excited about IndyHub and what they represent within the city, very interested in seeing how IPS develops within the next few years and their relationship to the Mind Trust, the change in leadership of Indianapolis and how DMD adjusts and continues to develop the city and neighborhood organizations/CDC’s and how they in partnership with public and private partners form and develop their neighborhoods.

Of all the cities where you could reside, work, play, why did you choose Indy?

I love Indy because of the potential it has and how it is being developed.
