World Habitat Day 2021
October 4, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeA safe, affordable home is more important than ever. Come learn about the housing crisis and what you can do to help!
In Indiana, 1 in 9 households spend more than half of their income on housing. At a time when sheltering in place isn’t just an option, but a necessity, housing is slipping under the radar as one of the greatest crises that the United States faces today.
But that isn’t the end of the story. Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity is at work in Indianapolis and beyond to provide a path to affordable homeownership and new opportunities for families and individuals. Habitat Young Professionals (HYP) not only support that work by swinging hammers and raising roofs, but also by learning about the systems that keep housing costs high and homeownership out of reach for many Hoosiers.
Come join us! On Monday, October 4th, as Habitat groups all over the U.S. celebrate World Habitat Day, HYP is hosting an evening of learning the facts, networking with other passionate advocates, and finding new ways to be a part of the solution. Participants will walk through an interactive simulation, visit displays with resources, and have the opportunity to chat with and meet other professionals involved with Habitat’s vision of building homes, communities, and hope.
The event kicks off at 6 pm at the West Washington ReStore (4129 W. Washington Street). Doors will stay open until 8. Refreshments will be provided and the event is free to all participants.
Please RSVP to let us know you are coming, and for any questions, please reach out to HYP leadership at indyhabitatyp@gmail.com.
