Brunch Run Indy Benefits Local Foundation

CMBC foundation is a grassroots organization established to provide community-based financial support to those directly affected by cancer. It was established by a young, local attorney, Stephenie Sutliff Joacham prior to losing her battle with cancer. Stephenie’s vision is exemplified by the organization’s name – Christ is My Big C as a reminder to not let cancer be the Big C in your life. Stephenie hoped that easing people’s financial burdens could help them focus on what is most important in their lives such as family, faith and winning the battle against cancer.

Since its inception in 2011, the foundation has primarily raised funds through an annual golf outing as well as a fashion gala. With the generosity of its supporters, CMBC has been able provide support for cancer patients and their caregivers. This support comes in many forms. It could be as small as providing a gas card for a family to travel to chemotherapy or as large as paying for a flight to MD Anderson for experimental treatments. To date, the foundation has provided support nearing $120,000.

What makes this foundation special is that locally donated dollars can make an immediate, direct impact.  Funding cancer research and the foundations that support them is important but for families that are in the fight against cancer right now, their immediate financial needs often supersede the need for research. This need was something that  Stephenie recognized and why she created the foundation and why CMBC is partnering with WTTS and the Rathskeller on Brunch Run Indy. Our goal is to raise not only money, but also awareness for the foundation and the overall need to donate local.

WTTS and The Naked Monkey are proud to present Brunch Run Indy, a Sunday Funday 5K starting and ending at The Rathskeller. Brunch Run Indy takes place on Sunday, October 8th at 10am.
