AFL’s 8-Week Playwrighting Course

May 9, 2021 @ 11:00 am - June 27, 2021 @ 1:30 pm

$240

This 8-week course is intended to not only provide a safe space for anyone to hone their craft of playwrighting but also get exposure to the other sides of being a playwright including having their words brought to life on stage. This course will be in a hybrid format, where you can choose to video-in or attend in person. Each class, including the first class, playwrights will be asked to bring approximately 10-minutes of material to class, that will be brought to life by local actors. After each piece is read, the instructor will lead a constructive feedback session and discussion about the piece. The last two workshops will be reserved for providing feedback on the specific piece that the playwright has selected as their showcase piece. This could be a complete 10-minute play, monologue, or excerpt of a longer piece. This workshop is divided into three sections: workshop, rehearsal, and showcase performance.

Classes will take place May 9, 16, 23, 30, and June 10, 13, 24, 27.
Sunday classes will be held from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm and Thursday classes from 7 – 9:30 pm.
The showcase will be held on June 9 and 10.
