Campfires: Holliday Park

September 18, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

$15

Trek and talk with us at Holliday Park!

A riparian wood is the special, lush landscape that borders a river or stream; if you’re from Central Indiana, with our abundant waterways, you know the smells, sounds and sights of these treasured places well. Spend a crisp fall afternoon trekking through just such a spot nestled along the White River in Indianapolis.

Each trek is co-led by a humanities scholar and a naturalist. Along the way, we stop to read short writings by Indiana nature writers. You have the option of purchasing a copy of Next Indiana Campfires: A Trail Companion with your ticket.

COVID-19 Protocols:

  • Indiana Humanities has a mask-friendly policy. Vaccinated participants can but are not required to wear a mask. Unvaccinated participants will be required to wear a mask to help us protect our most vulnerable neighbors.
  • A full refund will be granted to anyone who does not feel well on the day of the event. Please do not attend if you have any COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Any updates to the COVID-19 protocols will be communicated to attendees at least 24 hours prior to the event start time.

SCHOLAR-FACILITATOR: Katy Didden, Ball State University

TRAIL DIFFICULTY: Easy-moderate (some small hills and stairs)

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

  • Space is limited so advance registration is required. If all tickets are claimed, you will automatically be added to the waitlist and be notified if tickets should become available.
  • A limited number of need-based waivers are available. To request a waiver, email Claire Mauschbaugh (cmauschbaugh@indianahumanities.org).
  • Depending on the weather, some trails may be wet, so wear shoes that can handle the mud!
  • We will send a final confirmation two days before the event with driving and parking instructions and any other updates.
  • In case of inclement weather, Indiana Humanities will cancel the event and alert you via email at least two hours prior to event start time. If the event is cancelled, you will receive a full refund.
