Virtual First Friday Gallery Opening | March 2021: A Will and Away

Friday, March 5, 2021, 6 pm

FREE VIRTUAL EVENT

On March 5th, 2021, join us for a virtual First Friday online! Enjoy these openings:

1. “A Will and Away,” featuring new oil on linen works by Alicia Zanoni in the Harrison Gallery. This show displays a sense of moving forward, each painting is a place traveled to in a dream. Bursts of color come through each scene bringing a sense of a hopeful journey forward. Exploring the connection between our will and the place we are going/longing to go.

2. Amy Applegate will be debuting “odds and ends” in the Gallery Annex, an array of small paintings and works on paper of various mediums. The paintings predominantly depict still lives and close cropped landscapes done from looking out the windows of her home.

3. “Renew,” by Jessica Green in the City Gallery. These new oil paintings of iconic downtown Indianapolis locations merge her signature modern-impressionistic painting style with abstract patterns and expressions. The paint drips and smears symbolize a washing away. While the geometric patterns of shapes and gridded dots represent the structure and support system, the ligaments of strength and hope.

4. Kaila Austin will present “Saints & Icons” in Hank and Dolly, a series of new mixed media portrait paintings.

5. H Ward Miles presents “Microparticles”, a new collection of abstract paintings using acrylic and gold on canvas.

6. “Our Shot,” a group show in the Underground Gallery featuring local artists celebrating our shared love of basketball during March Madness. The title also gives artists a platform to encourage Hoosiers to take vaccinations as seriously as they do basketball.

All shows will open virtually at HarrisonCenter.org/buy-art.

After our virtual First Friday, all shows are open for in-person, socially distanced visitors Monday-Friday from 9am – 5pm, beginning March 8th. Make an appointment online at harrisoncenter.org/buy-art.

With support from: the Arts Council of Indianapolis, the Indiana Arts Commission, Christel DeHaan Family Foundation, and Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation.
