She is: Really Into Spring

Aren’t the seasons just awesome? I mean, just two weeks ago, I swear it was pitch black out and there was two feet of snow on the ground. Cut to this week: I’m in open-toe platforms and wearing a maxi dress. Bliss.

There are some cities that only have two seasons. They play host to Old Man Winter nine months a year leaving only three months or so for Sweet Spring to crash. Living in a city like Indianapolis, you really get a sense of all four seasons:  the leaves change color, bounce around in the wind and eventually end up in your gutters. As soon you clean them, you’re back up on the icy roof getting Rudolph et al strung up and lit up for the holidays. So merry and bright! Then, you’re miserable. Straight up miserable, because the godforsaken winter will never end. It’s cold and dark and you’d think everyone has been diagnosed with SAD.

Then.

Just then.

You need sunglasses. It happens suddenly but you don’t mind that it’s abrupt – you’ve been wearing your bathing suit around the house for weeks. It’s glorious. The vitamin D penetrates your skin and the sun shines down on you like a natural acupuncturist.  Let there be light!

So, clearly I have a love of all seasons, but spring and summer are tops. Everyone’s out and about and doing and being. I love it.  Some of the things I love to do in the spring and summer in Indy:

See some classic films

Stalk bikers at the Crit

Swim!

Eat Outside

See some killer bands

Attempt to Catch a Foul Ball

Kayak on the River

Buy some art

Get down on the Prairie

Sample some food trucks

Eat Popsicles

Take Trade School Indy’s Summer School classes

Road trip down south

Catch a Drive-in Movie

I know I’ve missed a lot. What are your favorite things to do in the best season ever? Comment below!

PS – Come sweaty August, lord knows I’ll be begging for winter.
