2019 February to August
Heartland Film, founded in 1991, is a curator and supporter of purposeful filmmaking, honoring a wide variety of cinema and awarding storytellers from all over the world. The films we select and exhibit – whether they inspire and uplift, educate and inform, or have the ability to shift audiences’ perspectives on the world – all have one thing in common: they are entertaining films that do more than just entertain. Heartland has two festivals per year–the Indy Shorts Film Festival in July and the Heartland International Film Festival in October.
Volunteer Opportunity Details: Heartland Film is seeking diverse individuals with a critical eye for film to be part of the review and selection process for the Indy Shorts and Heartland International Film Festivals as volunteer screeners. Screeners do not have to be local to Indianapolis; the process is entirely online. Perks include fest pass discounts and ticket vouchers.
Specific Volunteer Tasks include: The commitment is flexible: students are asked to watch at least 5 shorts per week (January-May), or at least 2 feature films per week (late February-August). Non-students are asked to watch 14 shorts/week or 5 features/week. Those with strong interest but concerned about the commitment can contact Film Programming Coordinator Julia Ricci at email@example.com and we will do our best to accommodate.
