November 16, 2019 – May 31, 2020; multiple shifts available
The Indiana Repertory Theatre’s 2019-2020 season is underway, so this volunteer opportunity is for all IRT performances starting now through May 31, 2020. The performances are mainly in the evening, but on the weekends, there also have matinee performances. All of the performances are listed on the volunteer website, Volgistics, which is also where volunteers can pick and sign up for the performances that they would like to work.
As an usher, you are helping make the Indiana Repertory Theatre a welcoming home for our Indianapolis arts community. By greeting and helping patrons as they arrive for a performance, you are ensuring that they have a seamless experience so that they can focus on the magic that is theatre.
Volunteering as an usher at the IRT is really quite simple, and you get the great benefit of being able to watch a performance for free! Usher duties will include some or all of the following: passing out programs, helping patrons find their seats, running the coat check, scanning tickets, monitoring patrons for potential issues, stuffing programs, and other related tasks. Those duties will be completed before the show. After the show, we ask that ushers stay to help pick up trash in the theatre. This usually takes about 15 minutes.
