Resources. People. Ideas.

It was about 2 years ago when I found YNPNindy. I was looking for a way to connect with others who worked in the nonprofit sector and were embarking on a similar professional journey as me.

Lucky for me, 2018 was the year Indianapolis hosted the YNPN National Conference. At the time, I worked for a great organization (shout out to WFYI Public Media) who fully supported me in continuing my education learning about impact and strategy, DEI work, and so much more.

At the conference, I met many, many young nonprofit professionals from all over the country. All who were excited, motivated, engaged and eager to do great work in their communities. Two people really stood out to me and I would call them ‘community game-changers.’ These two passionate people were YNPNindy board members. They opened up my eyes, and my network, to all the possibilities of making new connections in Indianapolis.

These three words: Resources, People, Ideas – help direct you to find your passion and mission, connect with like minded professionals, and achieve social change for your community.

While we all have many goals individually, together we can be stronger and greater. YNPNindy activates emerging leaders by making connections. We want to find those who feel inspired and engaged, who bring energy, creativity, and new perspectives to the nonprofit sector.

Our YNPNindy community continues to help our members acquire the skills and awareness they need to be effective changemakers in Indianapolis. With these leaders always learning and wanting more, we’re working to create opportunities to help build a diverse and powerful social sector that can support and strengthen our communities.

While social distancing, our board members are working for ways to connect with members through …

Professional Development: Members have the opportunity to attend a free or low-cost professional development event that has a specific learning objective and allows time for guided networking with their peers.

Lunch Huddles: Every other third Thursday of the month, a small group of members get together over lunch to discuss a specific topic, or whatever career issues are on their minds! Previous topics include: Setting your Professional Goals, Growing new networking relationships (how to be serious about this), and How to leverage your network.

Volunteer events: Twice annually, our members give back to the community by partnering with a local organization to complete a service project. Last year, our team did a Halloween Candy Drive and donated it all to the Ronald McDonald House.

Even though COVID is limiting how we interact right now, I know myself and my fellow board members would be happy to still grab the YNPNindy get-to-know-you (now, social distant) cup of coffee!
