The 1828 Project is one of our signature programs at IndyHub and each year it’s full of incredible leaders between the ages of 18 and 28. Chris is a part of 1828’s Class VII. We sent him some questions and he responded. Keep reading to learn more about Chris!

What is your day-job?

I am a full time intern architect at CSO. I do architectural drafting for hotels and multi-family housing in the retail/hospitality studio.

Where are you originally from?

Naptown born and raised! Westside to be exact. The best come from the west.

If you had to choose one mode of transportation to get around our city, which would you choose and why?

Since our public transit system is still somewhat behind, I’d have to say car, but I would love be able to ride on a monorail system. I think those are so dope. Can’t wait for the day Nap gets some of those up and running. Until then, I will enjoy the Red Line once it is finished.

Which local donut shop is your favorite? What’s your go-to order?

Not much of a coffee person, but my favorite place to eat in the city has to be Long’s Bakery. OMG. I could write a book on how good they are. Those cinnamon fry donuts TRULY have a special place in my heart (and stomach).

What was your favorite thing about 1828 this past year?

1828 has been so dope! I hate that it is about to end. Everyone here seems so dope. All of the speakers are dope individuals with so much knowledge. Me being a part of this 1828 class was perfect timing as well. I am at a stage in my life where I am learning as much as possible, exposing myself to things that get me out of my intellectual comfort zone, in order to grow. 1828 has opened me up to a new lane that I didn’t know existed and I am grateful for it. Shoutout to Molly and Ashley. They are cooler than a polar bear’s toenails. [Editor’s Note: We’re gonna have to start using that one here around the office!]

What are you most excited about when thinking about the future of our city?

I am excited for growth in the 317. I am excited to see our culture evolve into something distinct and unique. I am excited to see the city step into its potential. I am also excited that there are people like me who see the issues the city is facing (rising murder rate, gentrification/displacement, failing education, etc.) and have goals help “resolve” some of these issues. Naptown definitely has a bright future and there is no denying that!

What’s your dream adventure vacation?

My dream adventure vacation is to take a month or two in a warm place (South Florida, Hawaii, South Africa, Los Angeles, UAE, Sydney, etc). During those two months, I would workout, hike, meditate, pray, eat different foods, study, and other activities that would isolate me from my normal routine to focus on physical, spiritual, emotional and mental health and growth.
