1828 Spotlight: Diana Ortega

The 1828 Project is one of our signature programs at IndyHub and each year it’s full of incredible leaders between the ages of 18 and 28. Diana is a part of 1828’s Class VIII. We sent her some questions and she responded. Keep reading to learn more about Diana!

What is your day-job?

I am a policy analyst. I have developed a co-treating arts intervention program for individuals with addictions and am now working implementing this program. This currently includes the development of a policy recommendations that would allow for a specific Medicaid waiver to allow music therapy to be billable in the area of addictions.

Where are you originally from?

New York City

What made you lay your roots here in Indianapolis?

The amazing opportunities that Health and Hospital Corporation has presented to me.

It’s the weekend. What are some of your favorite things to do when not at work?

On the weekends I love being active. I like to go rock climbing, traveling, hiking, running, cooking, and painting.

When thinking about the future of our city, what are you looking forward to the most and why?

I am looking forward to a more vibrant arts scene. Arts are a huge drive to the health and vitality of a city and its exciting to see the investment that is occurring.

Quick- you can only eat at one local spot for the rest of your life. Where ya going and what’s your go-to item on the menu?

The Livery. Yuca fries.

What’s a local Indy cause that is near and dear to your heart and how might people go about learning more or getting involved?

Any given child. This is a program through the Kennedy center that brings music to Indianapolis Public Schools.
