Constitution 101

An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, repeating until March 25, 2020
Want to brush up on your understanding of government and the U.S Constitution? Enroll in Constitution 101, a six-week course that occurs from 6:30 PM-8:30 PM every Wednesday from February 19th through March 25th. The course is taught by Robert Leming, the national director of the We the People program at the Center for Civic Education and Drew Horvath, a government teacher at Lawrence Central High School.
Participants will receive a copy of We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution textbook, a course binder, and a pocket constitution.
Course Content:
Week 1 (February 19): What Are the Philosophical and Historical Foundations of the American Political System?
Week 2 (Febuary 26): How Did the Framers Create the Constitution?
Week 3 (March 4): How Has the Constitution Been Changed to Further the Ideals Contained in the Declaration of Independence?
Week 4 (March 11): How Have the Values and Principles Embodied in the Constitution Shaped American Institutions and Practices?
Week 5 (March 18: What Rights Does the Bill of Rights Protect?
Week 6 (March 25): What Challenges Might Face American Constitutional Democracy in the Twenty-first Century?
