First Friday Art Show: Parallel Abstractions
February 7, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeArtists find the extraordinary in the ordinary, exploring abstractions in the relationship between form and color in natural objects such as flowers and trees to create thought-provoking pieces. On February 7 in a First Friday Art Show in the Rapp Family Gallery at Indiana Landmarks Center, photographer Anne Emison Wishard and painter Greta Krueger offer two takes on similar subject matter in their show, “Parallel Abstractions.”
Both artists are based in Indianapolis and find inspiration for their work in nature. Wishard studied photography at Indiana University’s Herron School of Art and Sante Fe Photographic Workshops and has taught macro photography at the Indianapolis Art Center as well as photo encaustic at Roberts Camera. Her images can be found in both public and private collections.
A life-long artist who studied gilding at Oro e Colore in Florence, Italy, Krueger primarily works in oil on canvas, with her paintings exploring what she sees in nature and relationships between humans and the natural world. Krueger has an extensive background in murals and commissioned work.
Complimentary snacks and beverages will be available at the First Friday reception on February 7, 6-9 p.m. Guests can also tour Indiana Landmarks Center at 1201 Central Avenue in Indianapolis. Built as a Methodist church in the nineteenth century, the restored and adapted structure holds theaters and a reception hall in addition to the gallery and Indiana Landmarks’ headquarters. Free admission.
