Harrison Center’s FORgiving Tuesday
December 1, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
FreeAs difficult and divisive as 2020 has been, The Harrison Center has a gift in mind that can instantly change the world for both the giver and the receiver. While forgiveness is absolutely free of charge, it can be one of the most difficult things to give, so the Harrison Center would like to help community members enjoy the powerful experience through their FORgiving Tuesday movement on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Supporters are asked to share their FORgiving Tuesday sentiments via the Harrison Center’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter pages. To make the experience more tangible, participants will receive a FREE piece of original, personalized art from Harrison Center artist Lorie Lee Andrews. The process is simple: followers repost from their preferred social media channel which of three prints they are requesting and then send a direct message to the Harrison Center team of their preferred mailing address for shipping or indicate that they wish to pick up their art in person. For those who want to fully immerse themselves in the process, they are encouraged to watch the artist virtually create FORgiving Tuesday prints at Noon or 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Patrons who prefer a socially-distanced, in-person experience, can stop by the Harrison Center on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. where artist Carolyn Springer will be creating a piece of public art titled The Forgiving Sea. People are encouraged to personally write a name on the piece or send a name through social media to be added by the Harrison Center team. The final exhibit will be unveiled during a date still to be determined. “Harrison Center artists are very adept at addressing community issues with cultural solutions,” said Joanna Taft, executive director of the Harrison Center. “One of the most important lessons we have learned this year is that forgiveness is powerful and we hope our unique twist on the GivingTuesday movement will promote healing and peace to make our community a better place.”
The Harrison Center’s FORgiving Tuesday will be held from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020 on their social media channels at Facebook.com/HarrisonCenterArts/, Twitter.com/HarrisonCtrArts and Instagram.com/harrisoncenterarts/. In-person elements will take place during the same timeframe at 1505 North Delaware St. in Indianapolis. For more information, visit www.harrisoncenter.org.
