“Visiting My Home on the Mountain” featuring Josh Goforth
April 10, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$35 – $65We’re pleased to welcome back storyteller and musician Josh Goforth after his fan-favorite show “Come Sit on my Front Porch” at Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center in 2019.
Goforth started out young, surrounded by the musical traditions of both his family and home state of North Carolina, playing piano in church when he was just four years old. A chance encounter in sixth grade with storyteller and musician Sheila Kay Adams sparked his interest in his musical heritage.
Master of nearly 20 instruments, Goforth is a highly accomplished old-time, bluegrass, and swing musician, who is best known for his fiddling, which can be seen in the 2000 feature film “Songcatcher” and PBS documentary “Folkways: The Fiddle.” Goforth has performed in 49 U.S. states, in Japan and all over Europe. After winning his third title of “Fiddler of the Festival” at North Carolina’s famed Fiddler’s Grove Festival, he was designated “Master Fiddler” and retired from the competition. Goforth was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2009 for Best Traditional Folk Album “Cutting Loose,” his collaboration with David Holt.
