ABOUT THE EVENT: To celebrate the season and the 75th Anniversary of It’s A Wonderful Life (1946), join Downtown Indy Inc. and Heartland Film at the Historic Athenaeum for a one-of-a-kind Indianapolis holiday tradition. Get your picture taken with Santa Claus on the Red Carpet, grab a cup of hot chocolate, listen to live music of the season, don your ugly holiday sweater and enjoy this classic film with a glass of wine or beer.

The Jimmy Stewart Legacy Award

Established in 2015 in partnership with the Stewart Family, the Heartland Film Festival has presented the annual Jimmy Stewart Legacy Award and $5,000 cash prize to a single winner, selected from the Festival’s feature-length narrative and documentary titles. The winning film will best embody the ongoing legacy of actor and national hero Jimmy Stewart and will demonstrate the triumph of the human spirit through determination and the defiance of odds, humble vulnerability, and courage in the face of adversity.

Heartland Film Festival is honored to be the only film festival worldwide with an award in Stewart’s name sanctioned by his family.
