IndyHub History

Learn more about our backstory and how we became the leading advocate and resource for Indy's twenty- and thirty-somethings.

indyhub was founded in 2005.

More than a decade ago, our story began to take shape in a series of conversations facilitated by BioCrossroads with community leaders, economic development types and rising professionals to discuss the prevailing issue of attracting and retaining young professional talent in Indianapolis that would (and continues to) be critical for the future of Central Indiana.

The group’s work resulted in the formation of IndyHub, organized in June of 2005 as a free-standing nonprofit that included a single staff person, a governing board of directors (many of whom had been involved in the formation) and an army of connected individuals to pulling it all together.

In 2013, the IndyHub Foundation was established to amplify IndyHub’s early success and carry the growing organization forward into a second decade. Structured as a supporting organization, the IndyHub Foundation furthers the missions of the Arts Council of IndianapolisCentral Indiana Corporate PartnershipCity of IndianapolisIndy Chamber and Visit Indy. IndyHub’s respected work in talent attraction and engagement closely aligns with the efforts of these organizations and embodies the collaboration that runs deep in our city.

Today, we’re well into that second decade. Our staff, board has grown, and IndyHub’s membership-free network of twenty- and thirty-somethings in Indianapolis is thousands strong. We’re connected to one another and to the causes we care for deeply. Individually, you’ll find people connected to us in many ways: participating in our programs, engaging in our social networks online and lending their voices and perspectives to our work and across all facets of the city.
