In Indiana, 1 in 9 households spend more than half of their income on housing. The COVID pandemic has exacerbated this crisis and brought it to the forefront of many national discussions, but what can local communities and individuals do to help make safe, affordable housing a reality for everyone of our neighbors?

Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity is at work in Indianapolis and beyond to provide a path to affordable homeownership and new opportunities for families and individuals. Our Habitat Young Professionals (HYP) chapter not only supports that work by swinging hammers and raising roofs, but also by learning about the systems that keep housing costs high and homeownership out of reach for many Hoosiers.

The first Monday of October, every year, is designated by the United Nations as “World Habitat Day”. It is an opportunity to connect with your local community around the important of housing as a basic human right and discuss HOW we can get ourselves out of this crisis.

Join our Indy HYP members in celebrating World Habitat Day by coming out to The Rooftop Garden on Monday October 2nd for a social event to learn about affordable housing, network with other passionate advocates, and find new ways to be a part of the solution.

The event kicks off at 6 pm. FREE pizza will be provided. Cash bar.

* NOTE: This even takes place on the rooftop of this building – you will need to go up to the 5th floor to access this event. We will have signage guiding the way, if possible.
