Illumination: Sculpture by James O. Clark
June 15, 2022 - August 31, 2022
FreeExperience the intriguing interaction of light and form in a survey of experimental sculptures by James O. Clark, a New York City-based artist and School of Visual Arts professor.
“Illumination: Sculpture by James O. Clark” is an in-depth look at the artist’s metamodernist work. The exhibition features 23 light-based studio investigations created by Clark between 1993 and 2000. Each piece highlights the intriguing interplay of light and form while also challenging ideas of suitable materials for artistic expression.
“Illumination” will be on view from June 15 through Aug. 31, 2022, in the school’s Berkshire, Reese and Paul Galleries and Basile Gallery. A closing reception will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31.
The exhibition is organized by the Clara M. Eagle Gallery at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. It is supported by a grant from the Creative Motif Fund in New York.
