Rebecca Norris Webb & Alex Webb Talk

FreeJoin Aurora PhotoCenter and the Herron community for an artist’s talk in conjunction with Rebecca Norris Webb’s “Night Calls” projection exhibition.
Norris Webb and her creative partner and husband, Alex Webb, will discuss their work, including the “Night Calls” project and series such as “Violet Isle,” “My Dakota,” and “La Calle.” At the end of the presentation, the artists will take questions from the audience.
This artist’s talk is free and open to the public. The event is organized by Herron School of Art and Design’s photography degree program in partnership with Aurora PhotoCenter.

‘NIGHT CALLS’ VIEWING
After the talk, at 8:30 p.m., attendees can join the artists to view the “Night Calls” projection on Monument Circle.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Norris Webb is interested in exploring the complicated relationship between people and the natural world. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is in the collections of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and George Eastman Museum, Rochester, NY, among others. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, National Geographic, Time, Wall Street Journal, Le Monde Magazine, The Guardian, and The New York Times Magazine. A 2019 National Endowment for the Arts grant recipient, she often collaborates on books and exhibitions with her husband and creative partner, the photographer Alex Webb, including “Violet Isle: A Duet of Photographs from Cuba,” and, most recently, “Brooklyn: The City Within,” published in September 2019 by Aperture, and “Waves,” published by Radius this summer.
Alex Webb has published 17 photography books, including “The Suffering of Light,” a survey book of 30 years of his color photographs. He has exhibited at museums worldwide, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, N.Y., the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. A Magnum Photos member since 1979, his work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, and other publications. He has received numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2007.
