Vintage Movie Night┃The Mask (1961)

August 7, 2021 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

For May-Aug, Vintage Movie Night is moving to the Corporate Shelter adjacent to the Garfield Park Arts Center, where guests can watch from their cars in the parking lot similar to a drive-in movie. No concessions will be served at this time. Pre-registration is required.
The movie will start after sundown (around 9 PM), but guests can plan to get to the park 45 minutes to an hour early to set up and settle in for the show! Restrooms are only available through the outdoor port-o-lets. There is one located right by the parking lot next to the Corporate Shelter. Guests are welcome to bring their own coolers of food and non-alcoholic beverages. Please note alcohol is not permitted. Lastly, per the Marion County Public Health Department, face masks are mandated for all residents when they are inside public buildings and/or unable to maintain adequate social distancing (minimum six feet) outdoors.
In the 1950s, 3D movies became very popular as an alternative to staying at home watching television. We’re celebrating them outdoors this summer as a drive-through, socially-distanced and safe event. Don’t miss these! Many of these films are not shown very often—or at all. With each registration, you’ll get a pair of 3D glasses that will be distributed at the event. Guests can remain in their car or outdoors in lawn chairs (socially distanced and masked).
The Mask (1961)
A young archaeologist believes he is cursed by a mask that causes him to have weird nightmares and possibly to murder. Before committing suicide, he mails the mask to his psychiatrist, Dr. Barnes, who is soon plunged into the nightmare world of the mask.

Vintage Movie Night FAQ:
Q: Can I bring chairs or should I stay in the car?
A: You can stay in your car or bring some lawn chairs. We just ask that if you sit outside your car, that you keep to your group and stay 6 ft from other guests.
Q: How will I hear the movie?
A: You’ll be able to tune-in to an FM frequency from your car, and if you’re planning on walking in, you should plan on bringing an FM radio, as there will be no external speaker.
Q: What about concessions?
A: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no concessions available at this time. You are welcome to bring coolers of food and non-alcoholic beverages. Please note alcohol is not permitted.
Q: What about the weather?
A: We hope that the weather holds out for us, but in cases of inclement weather, VMN will be cancelled and refunds will be issued to everyone registered. We will be keeping an eye on the forecast the day of, and posting updates in this event – check back periodically!
