American Red Cross: Allow us to Reintroduce Ourselves…

Lots of newness is taking place at the Indiana Region of the American Red Cross, including; a monumental birthday milestone, a new building, and a massive campaign push aimed at increasing volunteers!

Turning the big 1-0-0! Well, that’s pretty major for any organization or company. All year long, the Indiana Region has hosted everything from blood drives and free smoke alarm blitzes to parades and disaster training for school-aged students in grades 3-5. All of these activities and much more are just some of the ways in which the Red Cross gives back- continuing to build resiliency in communities. As you grow older, it becomes less about getting “stuff” for your birthday and more about paying it forward.

AmerRedCross-162Included in the statewide birthday festivities is the newly established, regional headquarters, spanning over 20,000 square feet. The new building was resized from its 100,000 square foot space, as a way to allow the Red Cross to commit more resources to their primary mission of helping and organizing people during emergency situations.

High-ceilinged hallways and quadrangular atriums make it feel like you’re entering into an office of the future! The automatic standing desks, personal lockers, and easy set-up command central control room also don’t hurt in making it feel contemporary.

AmerRedCross-140The building sits on 15th and Meridian and is designed with the idea that there is no one best way to get work done; there are unparalleled ranges of working environments. Natural light pours into the swanky space, though its massive windows and pendant light fixes. Volunteers, employees, and executives are not separated and work together in large, shared spaces with state-of-the-art technological attributes. There are many huddle rooms for more than one employee to do group work, or there are cozy nooks for privacy. Team members can even head to the rooftop terrace, which allows for a complete open-air, outdoor experience with views of downtown Indianapolis.

AmerRedCross-148“It’s a new look for the Red Cross,” said Chad Priest, regional CEO for the Indiana Region of the American Red Cross. “I believe this new space illustrates our collaborative culture here. The Red Cross is an integral part of the community and is like a proxy for our mission.”

Though disasters are what many people think when thinking about the Red Cross, those are not the only aspects of what makes up this recognized global brand to the community. Each line of service is a vital part of the country and around the world. In total, there are five lines of service:

Earlier, there was mention of our massive push for volunteers. Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about it, but you’ll have to stay tuned to our next guest blog post to hear about the exciting and creative campaign that the Red Cross will launch this fall! Stay tuned…
