IndyHub-Opposes-HJR-3
This statement has been given thoughtful consideration. Thoughtful not because we have wavered in our stance, but because we know there’s no way for us to speak for every young professional in Central Indiana. While we believe this to be shared by many, we understand that it may not be by all. In the end, we feel this is the right thing to do. And so, with the full support of IndyHub’s board of directors, we are joining Freedom Indiana in opposition to HJR-3, an amendment to Indiana’s constitution that would permanently define marriage as between one man and one woman, negating all of other relationships that bear resemblance.

At IndyHub, we work to attract, engage and motivate young professionals of all varieties to make Indianapolis an even greater place to live, work and play. That means that we want everyone to feel welcome here – regardless of how they drink their coffee, who they vote for in an election, and their preference to live in love with a man or a woman.

Talented, artistic, and skilled young professionals are more likely to choose a city they want to live in first and the job they want to have second. The legislation proposed by HJR-3 is not conducive for a welcoming and inclusive Indiana, and we have no doubt that its passage would hinder our efforts to attract and keep the brightest young individuals.

Because we believe that Indianapolis is made great by its diversity in thought, preference and culture, IndyHub opposes HJR-3.
