The Breakdown:

The Speak Easy is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization that brings established businesses and entrepreneurs together for the good of everyone in Indianapolis. The Speak Easy strives to be a community, and affordable place, for Indianapolis-based entrepreneurs to create, collaborate, and learn.

At the Speak Easy we want to empower entrepreneurs to be entrepreneurial. We love new ideas and we love collaborating to make them a reality. Our members are awesome people, doing awesome things, and our job is to help support their endeavors. From evangelizing the startup community, hosting events, organizing access to resources and securing funding, the Speak Easy is a community center for individuals making things happens.

Who we are looking for:

Individuals interact with the Speak Easy through a variety of experiences. Some join as members, others visit for meetings and celebrations. The Experience Manager has the specific goal of ensuring that experiences with the Speak Easy are positive and mission focused.

The Experience Manager will be responsible for building the following interactions;

  1. Managing the curious experience (new member inquiries, applications, tours, emails)
  2. Managing the 100% member experience (onsite, day-to-day logistics)
  3. Managing the destination experience  (business offsite, private events)

The Curious Experience (30%)

The Curious Experience encompasses interactions between the Speak Easy and nonmembers. Individuals may be evaluating and applying for membership or looking to gain a deeper understanding of “collaborative working”. Managing this experience includes:

  • Review and evaluate current membership application process and make recommendations on ways to improve;
  • Engage with prospective members of the Speak Easy community to provide insight into the Speak Easy mission and member experience;
  • Answer email inquiries about joining the Speak Easy.

The 100% member experience (50%)

The 100% member experience encompasses interactions between the Speak Easy and its current membership base. Individuals are already members and may be looking for ways to increase community engagement or answers to logistical questions.

Managing this experience includes;

  • Provide onsite support for members at the Speak Easy by helping answer questions about the space and available resources;
  • Actively communicate with member base by managing bi-weekly newsletter and social media presence;
  • Support relations between members by helping to provide introductions between members and to resources
  • Oversee facilities maintenance by making purchases and recommendations on ways to improve the Speak Easy facility;
  • Provide increased opportunities for members to engage with the Speak Easy by organizing member-focused events and managing the events calendar.

The Destination Experience (20%)

The Destination Experience encompasses interactions between the Speak Easy and individuals attending single-day events, including business offsite or private events. Individuals may be organizers of the event or visitors of the event. Managing the Destination Experience will require some work during non-traditional business hours. Managing this experience also includes:

  • Promoting the Speak Easy as an events venue for business-related (departmental offsites, brainstorming sessions) and nonbusiness related (weddings, anniversary parties, birthday parties) events;
  • Increase Speak Easy engagement opportunities through promoting public events using social media and building partner relationships;
  • Managing event logistics including contracts, payment and day-of coordination for events,;
  • Capturing feedback from event attendees and hosts to better serve future events.

Salary will be based on experience and is estimated to start between $30,000 – $35,000.
