Here at IndyHub, we’re laser focused on getting Indy’s 20-and 30-somethings connected, involved and making an impact in our city. Our team works to plug-in Indy newcomers, engage our young leaders, and showcase how incredible our city is to college students and interns, with the goal of attracting and retaining talent in Indy. It is our conviction that leadership takes all forms and throughout its 10-year cycle, the 1828 Leadership Project presented by Citizens Energy Group has maintained its fundamental philosophy: convene doers and change makers ready to implement ideas now. As we celebrate the milestone of our 10th year, we’re excited to introduce to you our largest class yet.
These doers are the strength of Indy’s today and tomorrow. The initiative, which is sponsored by Citizens Energy Group, brings together young leaders to learn about the challenges facing our city, meet the many individuals who are shaping policy and practice in our community, and to identify ways in which they can have an impactful role moving forward.
“We are living in a harrowing moment for our city, state and nation – a moment that demands leaders of every generation step forward, find their area of impact, and get to work,” said IndyHub president Blake Johnson. “The 1828 Leadership Project seeks to equip a cohort of young leaders with the agency and tools needed to help forge our city not just for today, but the many generations ahead.”
Program participants – which represent a wide range of sectors, including those that often lack traditional leadership tracks – are nominated by community leaders and selected by a committee of program alumni and community stakeholders. Class members, which participate at absolutely no cost to them, meet over the course of nine months. The 2020-2021 program is expected to be a hybrid of in-person and virtual sessions. The 1828 Leadership Project, Class X will be moderated by Jeff Robinson of Visit Indy and Gregory Stowers of Kiwanis International.
“Citizens Energy Group is proud to sponsor Class X of The 1828 Leadership Project,” said Citizens Energy Group President & CEO Jeffrey Harrison. “Indianapolis needs young leaders with big ideas now more than ever, and 1828 connects these young leaders with resources and a diverse cross-sector of professionals who can help them succeed. I know Class X participants are going to accomplish great things for our city.”
To date, The 1828 Leadership Project has served nearly 150 alumni. Class X will meet for the first time in late September.
