We’ve officially kicked off our 2015-2016 season of Passport to the Arts presented by Lilly. It’s too late to subscribe with us this year, but we promise to keep you up to speed on our recommendations for your own art excursions in Indy.
On Wednesday, December 9, the IndyHub Passport to the Arts crowd took over the Phoenix Theater to see their annual A Very Phoenix Xmas. We completely filled this delightfully intimate theater and enjoyed every single minute of it.
For ten years now, the Phoenix has been producing more contemporary and often edgier shows in a gorgeous theater that actually accommodates two, separate stages. The larger, more traditional of the two, seats close to 140. And the basement, well, it seats significantly less–as an attendee for those productions, you’re practically part of the show. We love ’em both!
If you’re the theater-going type but have yet to experience the Phoenix, please stop reading and find a show. (The remaining performances of A Very Merry Xmas are completely sold out, so we might recommend setting your heart on something else.)
Our Passport to the Arts crowd gave A Very Phoenix Xmas . . .

And they said things like:
“Hilarious and very unique spin on Christmas traditions. I think seeing this every year will now be a new tradition for me!”
“Loved every minute! Never a dull moment, and plenty of lights and action on the stage.”
“Absolutely phenomenal event. Truly had a great time and LOVED the show. This was my first time at Phoenix and I will definitely go back.”
“I have never been to the Phoenix Theatre and I can’t wait to go back. Great performance!”
