adrianneSlash_headshotWhy me and why now? I am overjoyed to introduce myself to you as the District 7 candidate for City-County Council. (IndyHub note: Be sure to check out the full ballot!)

District 7 is full of rich history and tradition, and I’m proud to call it home. Over-time our infrastructure has taken a hit and businesses have moved on. Growth in some areas has blighted others- it’s going to take someone committed to working together to spread the success around.

Come to the Tin Roof for #YP(IN)GAGE on September 17 to meet Adrianne and other young professionals running for City-County Council. Details >>

District 7 plays host to great schools, community centers, churches, and most important people. People that deserve great streets, sidewalks, parks, retail, and mass transit. People that deserve to feel safe, and know that help is on the way when they call. And, people that deserve to know why they go without when their questions go unanswered.

PhotoGrid_1440870590337Why I am Indy? As a life-long resident of this community I have lived, worked and played in every corner. Our community needs a friend on the council, a friend that hears concerns, asks questions and works tirelessly to make those concerns heard.

I am a community-minded person that is dedicated to the Indianapolis’ continued progress. Born and raised in a civic-minded family that has been an integral part of the city’s growth, I am dedicated to see it succeed.

Through my work at United Way, Girls Inc. Of Greater Indianapolis and now at Leadership Indianapolis, I have had the pleasure of contributing to this great community as my day job. But that’s not enough.

As a member of The Junior League of Indianapolis and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Alpha Mu Omega chapter, and the Indianapolis Urban League, I have worked with numerous community partners to deliver solutions to our neighbors in need.

There are serious issues facing our communities from safety to food desserts and I am dedicated to making sure my community has a voice in these discussions and have access to all available resources and opening doors many think are closed.

Voter registration for November’s elections will close on October 5. Registering or updating your address online is really simple.  Do it now >>

I am the ultimate Indy consumer. Not only do I support our local teams and venues, you can’t beat me to an opportunity to promote all things local and true to Indy’s culture and hospitality.

I’ve had the opportunity to experience Indy in some of the best ways possible, but I know there are plenty that haven’t and my goal is to ensure that those individuals have some of the same fulfilling memories. Our sustainability and quality of life in this city depend on it.

CommunitykidsThrough both my professional and volunteer work I have been at the table when decisions are made about poverty, safety and education. As a youth director at First Baptist Church North Indianapolis (in one of the city’s most dangerous zones) I am more than dedicated to providing a future full of promise.

As a student at The Orchard School many years ago my passion for servant leadership was born. That same passion continued to grow through my time at North Central High School and while earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. Leadership may be in my blood but more importantly it’s in my heart.

Friendship goes both ways and I would appreciate your support. Indianapolis is the greatest place I know, and there’s still room for improvement. I welcome your ideas and assistance in building a stronger community and making Indianapolis a better place to live.
